Since launching the Foundation’s music initiatives in 2014, we’ve seen how profoundly targeted support can transform the lives of emerging Zanzibari musicians. What began as a modest effort has grown into a vital platform – offering mentorship, training, awards, and performance opportunities that give young artists the tools, confidence, and visibility they need to grow. Step by step, these musicians have developed their craft, found their voice, and stepped onto national and international stages with work that carries the unmistakable spirit of Zanzibar.
Today, the impact is unmistakable. These programmes don’t just nurture musical talent – they open doors, strengthen communities, and help safeguard the cultural heritage that makes Zanzibar’s sound so distinctive. By investing in musicians, the Emerson Zanzibar Foundation is helping shape a future where local voices thrive and the islands’ musical identity continues to inspire.
Awards and live music events are where Zanzibar’s creative energy comes alive – powerful nights that celebrate rising talent, honour exceptional musicians, and bring communities together through unforgettable performances.
Partner with the Emerson Zanzibar Foundation and help bring Zanzibar’s musical creatives and culture to life. Your sponsorship supports exhibitions, performances, workshops and emerging talent while demonstrating your commitment to the island’s vibrant musical cultural future.
